Private Garden
The gardens are built around a lovingly restored 1930’s brick house with a contemporary extension and pool designed by Fearon Hay Architects. A series of garden spaces from the entrance courtyard, potager, lawn terrace, through to pool garden are created with clipped hedges of Portuguese Laurel. The planting within each space comprises a mix of deciduous flowering shrubs, repeated mounds of clipped Westringia and a patchwork of flowering perennials and groundcover species. A combination of clipped vegetation and ephemeral planting ensures seasonal change as well as a legible structure to the garden throughout the year. Bricks were imported from Holland to lay the garden paths and pacific limestone used as large steppers through the planting.
